A Few More Random Comments
First off, I need to be more creative with the titles of my posts. But, "a few more random comments" best describes the quick-shot blurbs that I create on the run...
It seems like the initial response to The Ross Press Release Blog is a positive one. I caught some people off-guard with the unveiling of this expanded, and quite high-tech medium. Glad to hear that at least a few folks have enjoyed this site so far. In fact, one of the things that I will try to do more of is give shout-outs to my friends and audience. With that being said, the very first shout-out goes to Jared. Reason being: Jared is the author of the very first audience post on the RPR blog. Very kind words that were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Cheers to you Jared, and Hook 'Em Horns (2005 College World Series champs, by the way!)
It's also worth mentioning some items related to what my girlfriend, Jessica, would call "work". For those of you who are unaware, Jessica is a media planner. She works on some accounts where these magazine reps basically come and plant their lips on her and her co-workers asses for the better portion of the planning year so they can get product placement, blah blah blah and so on. Well there's two stories to be told, one from Saturday, and one from Wednesday.
- Jessica gets to go to Atlantic City (all expenses paid) for the "Maxim All-Access" event at the Borgata. So she's there with P.Diddy, Carmen Electra, among other crazies. So at a later portion of the evening, or it may have been sometime in the morning...time gets a little foggy in the casino...Jessica is approached by Andrew Firestone. Now, I can't say I watched "The Bachelor", but I know this guy comes from money and is a big hit with the ladies. Anyway, Mr. Firestone approaches my Jessica and then conveniently mentions that he had mistaken her for another girl. They then proceed to make small talk, and my Jessica totally plays it cool with Mr. Bachelor while he hits on her. My take on this whole thing? I think it's great. Jessica will claim that he was not hitting on her, but thats a lot of crap. Way to go Jessica Rose!
- So on Sunday, Jessica non-chalantly mentions, "Did I tell you I'm going to Boston on Tuesday?" This was news to me. Yeah, she's going to attend some meeting with the clients. Ok, simple enough. I get the call Tuesday night and ask how it went. "Yeah, we took the shuttle plane there, and then made our way to their building. We all gathered in the theater and watched 'Bewitched'. Afterwards, I went out with a co-worker and some of her friends that live in Boston." Wait one second here..... Let me get this straight.... What happened to the meeting?!?! "There was no meeting. We just watched the movie." So let's recap: Jessica flew to Boston. She'll have been there for less than 24 hours when it's all said and done. There was no meeting, just a movie screening. All on the company's tab.
Case in point: Jessica has some pretty nice perks from work that I like to rag on her about. Also, I have no fun perks in my job. I get excited when they take us out to lunch after each quarter. Let's hear it for my $10 sandwich!

Hi Ross, this is way cool. Some of my friends from home have blogs and they never updated them. I checked them for awhile and then a month went by and there was nothing new and I just said, forget it. But, if anyone can keep up with the blogging, then it is you!
Am I allowed to write to someone else besides you in your blog? Well, I am going to anyway. Hi Jess! Your trips sounded awesome! I was looking forward to seeing Bewitched... but maybe I will wait for video.
Back to you Ross, if you had perks in your job then you wouldn't have as much to bitch about. And that wouldn't be any fun, would it? You should be one of those guys on sports center that just argues all day. Who cares what they have to say anyway? (Apparently Brad does since he watches those guys ALL THE TIME!)
Hi Jared! I heard Ross' voice when I read his blog, too! Speaking of people who work for free, so does Brad. All that money you guys gave to Penn State and now you are working for free. Haha!
All right, I think that is all I got for now. Ross... keep it coming. I am putting this site in my favorites, don't make me regret it!
Well, I feel the need to add a comment to this ridiculousness, most of the McKean crew has already done so... (Hi to Jared, Jess, Crystal... and of course you too Ross).
I agree with Jared - I can definitely hear your voice when I read this too... Then again, I also hear your voice when I'm watching tv, listening to music, and telling Penn State stories. And lets not forget when I'm in bed at night dreaming of you :0)
I would have to agree with the others that Jess does currently have the most perk-filled job of all. But I can't complain b/c when I visit her in the big apple she gives me free stuff and all the magazines I could ever read. :0) Course if I can stay in this job for another 25 years (or till I have college-aged children) my kids can go to CMU for free. (Let's be honest - that's a big perk). Too bad my kids are all gonna go to Penn State with your kids! haha
Anyway - I should get going... Some of us have to do work for a living (I'm not one of them... But there are people out there who do - from what I hear!) Ross, like Crystal, I encourage you to keep it up with this blog. I better not be dissapointed!!
I used to knock the Ross press release because it was so short, now reading this I feel like I am reliving many of the discussions we had together our senior year of college.
I just want to say, I know it may be wrong, but I think Jess should have just made out with Andrew Firestone just to say she did. Maybe she could get into a tabloid or something and it would give me something other than checking accounts to talk about in my misery filled day. There is no way you could get mad at your girlfriend for something like that. That is an opportunity that you may never get again in your life. Maybe I'm just trying to live vicariously through all my friends since I am so boring, I don't know.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Yes, the Jessica is hot, and if I was Andrew Firestone, I'd want to hook up with her too, so I don't blame him! Glad everyone can hear my voice in my writing, because it might take me a while to become savvy enough to put audio clips on the site. Maybe someday...
